- Description
- This paper describes the operation, and design of a MIDI-to-IP-to-MIDI router which overcomes the channel and distance limitations inherent in the MIDI protocol. It allows Windows-based programs and MIDI transmitters to route MIDI messages over long distances to MIDI receiving devices. Each networked PC in the system has one or more MIDI input/output ports. MIDI transmitters and receivers are connected to the input and output ports, respectively, and are given symbolic names. The system allows connections to be made between the transmitters and receivers.
