- Description
- Shakespeare’s comedies are full of froth and frivol, none more so than Much Ado, which purportedly advertises an overt lack of seriousness in its title. If a production misses the essential lightness of such plays, two things happen. First, the audience is lost, hopelessly at sea, completely bewildered. Second, those unexpected moments where the genius of comedy suddenly erupts in searing insight become indistinguishable from the general temper of events.
